(Witness) Marriage John Inkster of 4th Concession Madoc witnessed the marriage of James Maitland Tassie and his sister Ann Inkster on 2 Mar 1860 in Hastings County, Ontario.5 
MarriageJohn Inkster married Mary Rupert, daughter of John Rupert and Jane (-?-), on 8 May 1860 in Hastings County, Ontario.
Information from marriage registration: John Inkster, age 25, residence Madoc, born Canada West, parents William Inkster & Elizabeth Inkster;
Mary Ruport, 21, residence Madoc, born Canada West, parents John & Jane Ruport;
They were married by George Carr, minister of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, and the witness was [John's sister] Isabella Inkster of Madoc.2 
(with Parents) 1861 CensusJohn appeared on the 1861 Census of Madoc Township, Hastings County, Ontario with his parents. John was 26, single [sic], and born in Upper Canada. It was noted that one female was missing at the time of the census, and his wife Jane was enumerated with her parents.6

1871 CensusJohn and Mary Inkster appeared on the 1871 Census of Marmora Township, Hastings County, Ontario. John was 36, born in Ontario, Presbyterian, of Scotch origin, and was a farmer. Mary was 32, born in Ontario, and of German origin. Their children were William (8), John (7), and Ida (1). William and John attended school.8 
1881 CensusJohn and Mary Inkster appeared on the 1881 Census of Marmora Township, Hastings County, Ontario. John was 46, born in Ontario, Presbyterian, of Scotch origin, and a farmer. Mary was 42, born in Ontario, of German origin. Their children were William (19), John (17), Ida Jane (11), and Herbert J (3). John and Ida attended school.9 
(Informant) DeathJohn Inkster, farmer of Marmora, registered the 1881 death of John Keys. I believe John Keys was John Inkster's uncle, i.e. Keys married John's mother's sister.10 
Residence In 1886, John Inkster lived in Concession 3 Lot 23, Lake and Marmora Township, Hastings County, Ontario, and his post office was at Wariston. [a William Inkster was listed at this location in 1885]11 
(Witness) Marriage John Inkster witnessed the marriage of James Harvey Fidlar and his sister Isabella Inkster on 26 Jan 1887 in Fenelon Falls, Victoria County, Ontario.12 
1891 CensusJohn and Mary Inkster appeared on the 1891 Census of Marmora Township, Hastings County, Ontario. The family lived in a wooden 1 1/2 story house with six rooms. John was 56, born in Ontario, father born in Scotland, mother in Ireland, Presbyterian, and was a farmer. Mary was 52, born in Ontario, father in Ontario, mother in Ireland. Their children at home were Ida (21) and Herbert (13).13 
1901 CensusJohn and Mary Ingster [sic] appeared on the 1901 Census of Marmora & Lake Township, Hastings County, Ontario, at Lot 23, Concession 3. They lived in an 8 room brick house and owned 200 acres, 1 house, and 5 outbuildings. John was 66, born 2 Sept 1834 in rural Ontario, of Scotch origin, Presbyterian, and was a farmer working on his own accord. Mary was 61, of German origin, and born 24 May 1839 in rural Ontario. With them were children Ida (27) and Albert (21).3 
1911 CensusJohn and Mary Inkster appeared on the 1911 Census of Marmora & Lake Township, Hastings County, Ontario, at Lot 23 Concession 6. John was 76 years old, born in September 1834 in Ontario, of Scotch origin, Presbyterian, a farmer and employer working on own account. Mary was 74, born in May 1837 in Ontario and of Dutch origin. Their son Herbert James and his wife Pearl were living with them.14 
DeathJohn died on 25 Oct 1912 in Lot 23, Con 3, Marmora Township, Hastings County, Ontario.
Information from registration: age 78, born 2 Sept 1834, married, father William Inkster, mother not recorded, informant [his son] Herbert Inkster of Marmora, registered 25 Oct 1912.1 
BurialHe was buried in Zion Cemetery, Malone, Marmora Township, Hastings County, Ontario. The stone reads: John Inkster, Died Oct. 25, 1912 - Aged 78 years 1 mos 23 days.4
