The witness was John Inkster of 4th Con Madoc and they were married by D Wishart, Presbyterian Minister of Madoc.2 
1861 CensusJames and Ann Tassy appeared on the 1861 Census of Marmora and Lake Township, Hastings County, Ontario. They were with John and Isabella Keys but were tallied as not members of the family. However, in a later column it was recorded that only one family lived in the one story log house. James was 22, born in Scotland, and a yeoman. Ann was 22 and born in Canada. Their religion was Church of Scotland. [I believe that Isabella Keys was Ann's aunt (her mother's sister)]3 
1871 CensusJames and Anne Tassie appeared on the 1871 Census of Madoc, Hastings County, Ontario. James was 33, born in Scotland, and a farmer. Ann was 33 and born in Ontario. The family was of Scotch origin and their religion was Presbyterian. Their children were Elizabeth (10), Jane (7), Issbell F (4), and James A (4 months). Elizabeth and Jane went to school.4 
1881 CensusJames and Anne Tassie appeared on the 1881 Census of Bruce, Bruce North, Ontario. James was 45, a farmer, and born in Scotland. Ann was 44 and born in Ontario. They were Presbyterian. Their children were Elizabeth (20), Jane (18), James (10), and Abigail (8). James attended school. [The image was very poor so this information was partially obtained from the familysearch transcription available online]5 
1891 CensusJames and Annie Tassie appeared on the 1891 Census of Owen Sound, Grey County, Ontario. The Tassies lived in a two story wooden house with 7 rooms. James was 54, born in Scotland, parents born in Scotland, religion Canada Presbyterian, and was employed as a Laborer. Annie was 53, born in Ontario, father born in Scotland, mother born in Ireland, and religion Canada Presbyterian. Their children at home were Bella (23, school teacher), James (20, steam boat sailor), and Abbie V (18).6
