Description on enlistment: age 27 years, 9 months, 5'6", expanded chest 34", fair complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair, Presbyterian, 2 vaccinations on L arm (1906) and 1/2" scar on upper R lip. Fit for service.6 
MilitaryHe completed a draft registration card on 5 Jun 1917 in New York, New York. Information from the card: John Fraser MacKinnon, age 29, 267 W 22 NY NY, born May 29 1888 in Port Elgin Ontario Canada, alien status, Canadian citizen, clerk and correspondent for Butler Brothers in Jersey City NJ, no dependents, single, caucasian, was a sargeant in infantry in Canada, 5' 8", slender build, blue eyes, brown hair.7 
MarriageHe married Marion Frances Harper on 28 May 1927 in Toronto, York County, Ontario.
