1851/2 CensusGeorge and Flora Smith appeared on the 1852 Census of Vaughan Township, York County, Ontario, enumerated Jan 1852. George was a farmer, born in Canada, Kirk of Scotland, and age 26 next birthday. Flora was born in Canada, Kirk of Scotland, and age 23 next birthday. They had one son, John (3), and they were enumerated next to the Hector & Mary McLean family.1 
1861 CensusGeo and Flo Smith appeared on the 1861 Census of Vaughan Twp, York County, Ontario. They lived in a 1 1/2 story log home. Geo was a labourer, born in England, religion Church of Scotland, age 38, and married. Flo was age 35, and married. She was tallied [in error?] as not being a family member. Only George's birthplace was recorded. The children in the household were John (12), Mary (8), Dun (5), James (3), and not named (male, 1). It was noted that John attended school and that there had been one birth in the family that year.3 
(Widowed) DeathHis wife Flora died on 4 Mar 1864.4  
Note.After Flora died, George married twice more; first to Rebecca White by whom he had four sons, then to Sarah Jane Irwin by whom he had seven known children.

Rebecca was 35, born in Ireland, Presbyterian and Irish. With them were Robert (3), William (2), Thomas (3 months), as well as [George's children] Mary J (20) and George (11.)2

1881 CensusGeorge and Sarah Jane appeared on the 1881 Census of Vaughan Twp, York County, Ontario. George was age 56, born in England, Presbyterian, English, married, and a labourer. Sarah Jane was 35, born in England, Presbyterian, married and English. Their children Violet, Flora Ann and Sarah M were living with them. George's children Robert, William and Thomas were living with him.7 
1891 CensusGeorge and Sarah J appeared on the 1891 Census of Vaughan Twp, York County, Ontario. George was 69, born in England, parents born in England, C. Presb. and a labourer. Sarah J. was 43, born in Scotland, father born in Ireland, mother Scotland, C. Presb.. Their children Violet, Flora Ann, Sarah M, Margaret M and Samuel were with them. George's children William and Thomas were with them.8 
1901 CensusGeorge and Sarah appeared on the 1901 Census of Vaughan Twp, York County, Ontario. George was age 79, born 28 Mar 1821 in England, immigrated 1850, English, Presbyterian, laborer. Sarah was 55, born 10 Feb 1846 in Ireland, Irish, Presbyterian. Their children Samuel and Edan were living with them.9 
DeathGeorge died on 8 Feb 1909 in Lot 22 Con 7, King Tp, York County, Ontario.
Information from registration: George Smith, born March [no year recorded], age 86 yrs 11 mos 2 days, had been a farmer, married. The informant was Robert Smith of Pottageville. The medical certificate with cause of death was not returned to the registrar.10
