Biography
Ken McLean Family - by Florence McLean

Kenneth Angus McLean was born in Minot, North Dakota, of parents born in Ontario. The family came to Alberta settling in Calgary where Ken attended school. Later the family farmed in the Ensign district.

Ken served in the Army during the first World War but due to an injury was kept in Vancouver where he met and married Lillian Muir. They had two children -- Alberta (Mrs Hollister) of Magrath, Alberta and Kenneth Hector (Wally) who lost his life in a plane over the low countries during the Second World War. Ken bought grain in Retlaw, Aldersyde and Ensign where Lillian McLean died in 1925. During Ken's stay in Ensign he and Florence Richmond married. They had one son (now of Vulcan) -- Eugene. The Wheat Pool opened an elevator in Brant and Ken bought grain for them, remaining there for ten years. In 1937 he and Florence took over the Richmond land, adding the Corriveau section.

Ken was most interested in organizing baseball and was an enthusiastic curler. Due to ill-health, it was necessary for Ken to retire and he bought a home in Calgary where he stayed until he entered the hospital. He remained there until his death in July, 1971.6
