1891 CensusHugh McClean [sic] appeared on the 1891 Census of Markham Township, York County, Ontario. He was a farm labourer with a Mennonite farming family, age 48, widower, born in Ontario, parents born in Scotland, and Presbyterian. He could read and write.7 
1901 CensusBrothers Duncan and Hugh McLean appeared on the 1901 Census of Stouffville, York County, Ontario. Duncan was the head of household. He was 79 and born 12 August 1821, Hugh was 66 and born 10 May 1834. They were both widowers, born in rural Ontario, of Scotch origin, Presbyterian, and laborers. Living with them was Duncan's widowed daughter Sarah Birkett and her four children.8 
DeathHugh died on 29 Nov 1910 in Maple, Vaughan Township, York County, Ontario.
