1901 CensusAngus and Jean [sic] McLean appeared on the 1901 Census of Paisley Village, Bruce County, Ontario. Angus was born 16 June 1856 in rural Ontario, age 44, Scotch, Presbyterian, a General Merchant and employer working on his own account, could read, write, and speak English, mother tongue Gaelic. Jean was 35 and born 11 April 1865 in Ontario, mother tongue Gaelic. Their children were Percy (13), George (8), Mabel (5), and Florence (2). They leased an 8 room wood house, lot & outbuilding.5 
1911 CensusAngus and Nellie appeared on the 1911 Census of Toronto, Ontario, at 231 Pacific. Angus was 50, born June 1861 in Ontario, Scotch, Canadian, Presbyterian, Traveller for Denton Mi----, earned $1200. Nellie was 46, born April 1869 in Ontario. With them were their children Percy (23), George (18), Mable (15), Florence (12), and John (9), as well as Nellie's sister Mary McKay (25, single.)6
