Details from the register: Joseph Webber & Sarah Stocker, both of this parish, married by banns. Joseph signed his name, Sarah made a mark, and the witnesses were Sabrina Webber and [Sarah's brother] William Stocker.2 
(Witness) Marriage Sarah Webber witnessed the marriage of Thomas Pearse and her sister Elizabeth Stocker on 21 May 1833 in St George Exeter, Devon. Sarah signed with an X.3 
1841 CensusJoseph and Sarah Webber appeared on the 1841 Census of Exeter, Devon, at St Sidwell. Joseph was 35, a labourer. Sarah was 28. The children in the household were Mary (13), William (11), John (5), Joseph (3), and Willm Dobbs[?] (1). All were born in the county. Note that the 1841 census records ages rounded down to the nearest 5 years, does not record relationships, and only indicates whether or not the person was born in the county.4 
1851 CensusJoseph and Sarah appeared on the 1851 Census of Exeter, Devon, at 77 St Sidwells. Joseph was 49, an Ostler, born in The Close, Exeter. Sarah was 40 and born in Bd Clist Devon. Their children were John (14, servant), Joseph (12, chair driver), Walter (10, scholar), and Vergiana (8, scholar.)5 
1861 CensusJoseph and Sarah appeared on the 1861 Census of Exeter, Devon, at 22 Albert Street. Joseph was 60, a Cab Proprietor, born in Broadclist. Sarah was 52, born in Broadclist. Their children were John (24, fly driver), Virginia (17, dress maker), and Frederick (6). Also in the household were son John's wife Annie and their children Amelia and Sarah Jane.6 
DeathSarah died in 1866.
