RUDD and BONNYCASTLE - February 22, 1902, at the English Church, Calgary, by the Very Rev Dean Paget, D.D., Herbert Edwin Rudd, of Edmonton, youngest son of the Rev. Thomas Rudd, M.A., late Rector of Killallon, County Meath, Ireland, to Lyall, second daughter of Charles Bonnycastle, of Indian Head, Assa.9

1906 CensusH E and Lyall Rudd appeared on the 1906 Census of Alberta, enumerated 3 Jul 1906. Their nearest post office was Sturgeonville. H E was 32, born in Ireland, immigration date unreadable, land description unreadable, and had 2 horses, 5? milk cows, and 7 cattle. Lyall was 29 and born in Ontario. Their children were Terence (3) and Sheila (1). Living with them was one servant (likely for farming.)10
Item. In July 1909, Mrs Rudd of Alberta sent salt cellers as a wedding present to [her brother] Carl in Chilliwack, B.C.11
1911 CensusH.E. and Mrs Rudd appeared on the 1911 Census of Edmonton, Alberta, at 375 Kirkness, enumerated 1 Jun 1911. The census for this family was quite bungled - awful handwriting and questionable names and data (such as the entire family born in Ontario). By the family structure and the correct bits, I am quite sure it is them...perhaps Hope and Sheila answered the enumerator's questions! Bert was 37, born May 1874 in Ontario, of Irish origin, Canadian, Anglican, [occupation unreadable] Provincial Government employee, working 52 weeks at 60 hours per week, wages in 1910 were $1000. Lyall was 36, born in August 1875 in Ontario, and of Scotch origin. Their children were Terence (8), Sheila (6), and Hope (3.)12

Their children were Terence (13), Sheila (10) and Hope (7.)14
1921 CensusHerbert E and Lyall Rudd appeared on the 1921 Census of Edmonton, Alberta, at 11457 - 95 Street. They owned their single family 6-room [this is slightly larger than average for their neighborhood] wood house. Herbert was 45, born in Ireland, parents born in Ireland, worked for the government as a P Inspector earning $1800 the previous year. Lyall was 43, born in Ontario, parents born in Ontario. Their children were Terence (18), Shelia (15), Hope (12), and Charlie (3). They were all born in Alberta and the eldest three attended school. Herbert and Lyall immigrated in 1900 and the family was Church of England. [The immigration question was supposed to refer to Canada but it appears they answered it for Alberta]15
