They were married after banns and the witnesses were Robert Fernee, who signed with an X, and Mary Fernee. [The witnesses were probably Thomas' brother and either his sister or his mother]3 
Note.On daughter Kate's baptism entry in the parish register in 1886, it was noted that the family were paupers.4 
1891 CensusFrances Emma Simmonds and Thomas Fernee appeared on the 1891 Census of Pancras, London, at 66 Peckwater Street. At 68 Peckwater Street were Charles and Robert Fernee [his cousins]. Thomas' family lived in three rooms and shared the address with cousin Sarah and her family [surname Denny]. Thomas was 30, employed as a Carman, and was born in Pancras. Frances was 30 and was born in Oxford. Their children Ellen Elizabeth, Florence Amelia, Thomas William, James, Daisy and Rosina were with them.2 
1901 CensusFrances Emma Simmonds and Thomas Fernee appeared on the 1901 Census of St Pancras, London, at 66 Peckwater Street. The Fernees lived in 4 rooms and another family occupied 2 rooms. Thomas was 40, worked as a Carman, and was born in Kentish Town, London. F. Emma was 38 and born in Oxford. Their children Ellen Elizabeth, Florence Amelia, James, Daisy, Rosina, Alice Maud, George, Mary and Ernest were living with them.5

1911 CensusFrances Emma Fernee appeared on the 1911 Census of Kentish Town, London, at 66 Peckwater Street. She was a widow, age 48, and was born in St Giles Oxford. Frances Emma had been married 31 years and borne 15 children, 14 of whom were still living. The family lived in a 5 room residence and had one boarder with them. The children, all born in Kentish Town were Thomas William (29, single, porter), James (26, married, bottle washer), Daisy (23, laundry), Rosina (21, laundry), Alice Maude (19, laundry), George (17, van boy), Mary (15, box making), Earnest (13), Maude (11), Arther [sic] (8), Liallen [sic] (4), and Grace (2.)7 
DeathFrances died circa 1932.8
