(Executor & Heir) WillHe was named executor and an heir in the will of his father John Reid dated 21 Apr 1849. Sons Thomas and Walter had lived in family and had not yet been provided for. They were bequeathed the whole estate and in particular the leases of the farms of Hillside East Row, Braehead and Cambushinie.3

With him was his sister Helen (55) [actually this was Lilias], brother John (53), a domestic servant, 3 ploughmen, and a cattleman. The house had 5 rooms with windows.11 
(Informant) DeathWalter Reid registered the 1879 death of Lilias Reid. He was described as brother Walter Reid, present.12 
1881 CensusWalter appeared on the 1881 Census of Lecropt, Perthshire, at Craigarnhall. He was 53, unmarried, a farmer of 450 acres employing 8 men & 3 women, born Ardoch. Also in the household was his grandniece Mary Reid Kinross (19, housekeeper) and a servant.13 
MarriageWalter Reid married Jessie Ferguson Graham, daughter of Robert Graham and Janet Ferguson, on 1 Jun 1881 in The George Hotel, George Square, Glasgow, Lanarkshire.

They were married after banns according to the Free Church of Scotland by William Watt, Free Church Minister Norrieston and the witnesses were Walter Reid and Maggie MacLachlan (?).14 
Research Note Walter Reid & Jessie Ferguson Graham were first cousins. 
Note.The Clydesdale Stud Book (1885) mentions clydesdales that were bred by Walter Reid of Craigarnhall, Bridge of Allan.15 
1891 CensusWalter and Jessie F appeared on the 1891 Census of Lecropt, Perthshire, at Craigarnhall Farm. Their house had 9 rooms with windows. Walter was 63, a farmer and employer, and born Dunblane. Jessie was 45 and born in Kilmadock. With them were their daughter Jessie L (6), a domestic servant, and a shepherd.16 
(Executor) ProbateWalter Reid, Farmer, Craigarnhall was an executor of the estate of his brother-in-law James Stirling on 25 Aug 1891.17 
(Executor) WillWalter Reid was named an executor in the will of his brother Thomas Reid dated 16 Dec 1896. He was described as Walter Reid, Farmer at Craigarnhall Perthshire.18 
(Inventory) ProbateWalter Reid gave up the inventory of the estate of his brother Thomas Reid on 24 Jan 1898.18 
(Inventory) ProbateWalter Reid gave up the inventory of the estate of John Reid on 28 Sep 1899. He was described as sole surviving brother and next of kin Walter Reid, Farmer, Craigairnhall, Bridge of Allan who was appointed Executor Dative.19 
1901 CensusWalter and Jessie appeared on the 1901 Census of Lecropt, Perthshire, at Craigarn Hall. Walter was 78 years old, a Farmer, Employer, birthplace Ardoch. Jessie was 56 and born in Kilmadock. They had one daughter, Jessie L (16). Their house had 8 rooms with windows and they had one domestic servant.20 
DeathWalter died on 8 Aug 1910 in Glenhead Cottage, Kilmadock, Perthshire.
Information from certificate: Retired Farmer married to Jessie Graham, age 87, son of John Reid Farmer (deceased) & Elisabeth Reid maiden surname Graham (deceased), cause of death carcinoma of colon, heart disease, informant was W K Reid, Nephew.21
