Research Note Elizabeth's surname was gleaned from her son Frederick's death certificate. Colse is not a common name; I wonder if it should be Close or Koelsch or some other near variation.

Residence-Moved The family moved from the United States to Ontario about 1857, between the births of William and Frederick Christ. 
1861 CensusFrederick and Elizabeth Barch [sic] appeared on the 1861 Census of Preston Village, Waterloo County, Canada West, enumerated 14 Jan 1861. The family lived in a one story log house. Their religion was Lutheran. The tally marks indicated that one boy and one girl attended school, two adults could not read or write, and there was one birth in 1860.
Frederick was a tailor, born in France, age 45. Elizabeth was 38 and born in Byern Germany. The children were Dorathy (10, born in the United States), William (6, US), Frederick (4, Upper Canada), Albert (2, U.C.), and Charles (1, U.C.). [All ages are recorded as of the next birthday]3 
1871 CensusFrederick and Elizabeth Boersch appeared on the 1871 Census of Preston, Waterloo County, Ontario, enumerated 2 Apr 1871. Frederick was 54, born in France, Lutheran, of French origin, and was a Tailor. Elizabeth was 47 and born in Germany. Their children were William (15), Frederick (14), Alfred (12), and Charles (10). In the next household was their married daughter Dorothea Stohl. The two eldest children were born in the United States and the younger three in Ontario. The younger ones attended school. 1881 CensusFredk and Elizabeth Boersch appeared on the 1881 Census of Preston Village, Waterloo County, Ontario, enumerated 4 Apr 1881. Frederick was 64, born in Germany, of German origin, and was a Tailor. Elizabeth was 56 and born in Germany. Their son Carl was 20, born in Ontario, and was a shoemaker.5 
(Widowed) DeathHer husband Frederick died on 29 Sep 1886.6 
1891 CensusElizabeth Boersch appeared on the 1891 Census of Preston Village, Waterloo County, Ontario, enumerated 25 Apr 1891. Elizabeth lived alone in a 1 1/2 story 5 bedroom wood house. She was 68, a widow, born in Germany, Lutheran and could read and write.7 
1901 CensusElizabeth Borsh [sic] appeared on the 1901 Census of Preston Village, Waterloo County, Ontario, enumerated 31 Mar 1901. She was a widow, age 77, born July 15 1823 in Germany, immigrated in 1850, Lutheran, living on her own means, income $100. Her mother tongue was German and she could not read, write, or speak English.2 
DeathElizabeth died on 19 Apr 1903 in Berlin, Waterloo County, Ontario.
Details from registration: Elizabeth Borsch, age 79, residence Berlin, housewife, born in Germany, Lutheran, died of La Grippe one month duration, attended by Dr H G Lackner.8
