1841 CensusThos and Mary Ann Cox appeared on the 1841 Census of Christ Church Southwark, Surrey, at Prices Street, enumerated 6 Jun 1841. They were both 33 years old and born in the county of Surrey. Thomas was a clerk. Their children were Thos (6), John (3), Mary Ann (2), and Alfred (3 months). Note that the 1841 census does not record relationships, and only indicates whether or not the person was born in that county.3 
1851 CensusThomas and Mary Cox appeared on the 1851 Census of Christ Church Southwark, Surrey, at 2 Bennett Mews, enumerated 30 Mar 1851. Thomas was 42, Clerk to a Timber Merchant, and born in St Saviours Surrey. Mary was 41 and born in Kensington Middlesex. Their children at home were John (13), Alfred (10), Richard (4), and Benjamin (1.)2 
1861 CensusThomas and Mary Cox appeared on the 1861 Census of Christchurch, Surrey, at Bennetts Mews, enumerated 7 Apr 1861. Thomas was 52, a Clerk to a Timber Merchant, and born in St Saviours, Surrey. Mary was 52 and born in the City of London, Middlesex. Their children at home were John (23, cork cutter), Alfred (20, engineers fitter), Michael (14, scholar), and Benjamin (11, scholar.)4 
1871 CensusThomas W and Mary A Cox appeared on the 1871 Census of Christ Church, Surrey, at The Cottage, Bennett Mews, enumerated 2 Apr 1871. Thomas was age 62, a Foreman at a Timber Yard, and born in London. Mary was age 61 and born in London. At home were Richard (24, packer) and Benjamin (21, lighterman), as well as their grandson Thomas (14, printers reader.)5 
(Witness) Marriage Mary Ann Cox witnessed the marriage of her son Richard James Cox and Emma Davy on 29 Aug 1874 in St Mary Newington, Surrey.6 
1881 CensusMary A Cox appeared on the 1881 Census, at the Alms Houses, Burrell Street, Christ Church, Southwark, London. She was a widowed Almswoman, age 72, and was born in Kensington Middlesex. There were 39 elderly almswomen at this location.7 
(Other) 1891 CensusMary Cox appeared on the 1891 Census of Hackney, London, in the household of her son James and his wife. She was a widow, age 81, living on her own means, and was born in Kensington, London. James was a beer retailer and they had one domestic servant.8 
DeathMary died after 1891.
There is an entry in the GRO death index for a Mary Ann Cox, aged 83, who died in Hackney RD in December quarter 1892. However, there are many people by that name in the index. Her son that she was living with in 1891 died in 1893.
