FUNERAL of THE LATE MR J CRUMPTON
The funeral of the late Mr John Crumpton, of Warwick road, Olton, took place on Sunday, at Hurley. The cortege left the residence of the deceased at 11-30 a.m., and the respect in which the deceased gentleman was held at Olton was manifested by the number of blinds drawn in the neighbourhood. On arrival at Hurley, where the late Mr Crumpton was equally well known and respected, the same feeling was expressed, not only in a similar manner, but also by a large number of the residents attending the funeral. The coffin bore the following inscription "John Crumpton. Died 15th January 1908. Aged 59 Years." The Rev P V Montgomerie officiated. The mourners were Mr C Crumpton (son), Messrs W A Newey and F Perks (sons-in-law), Rev Slack and Mr J Hall (brothers-in-law), Mr Cordingly, and Mr Baxter, whilst the Solihull Parish Council, of which the deceased was a member for many years, was represented by Councillor J G Newey and Mr A Stainton, clerk. The bearers were Mr Breeden, Mr Kinross, Mr Geo Hull, and Mr Harry Hull, nephews. Amongst those who sent floral tributes were the Widow and Family; Mrs Croft, the Grange, Hurley; Mr and Mrs Pagett and family, Mr T B Dance, Olton; Mr and Mrs W Letts, Olton; Uncle John, Hurley; J Taylor, Olton; Harry and Gertie Hull, Mr and Mrs Wm Ward, Olton; George and Nellie, W and A Breeden, Mr and Mrs F H Biddle, Olton; Mr and Mrs J Bishop, Olton; Mr F Perks, Olton; Mr and Mrs Eborall, Solihull; Mr and Mrs Stevenson, Mr and Mrs H Lewis, Miss H and and Mrs J C Newey, Solihull; Mr and Mrs J W Blackham, Olton; Members of the St Margaret's Working Men's Society Club, Mr and Mrs Cordingly, Miss Perks, and Mr and Mrs Stainton, Solihull.12
