He offered to pay 1s a week, which Mr H C Trenchard, who appeared for the guardians, said they refused to accept. The Bench thought 1s a week sufficient, and made an order accordingly.5 |

He was in his 72nd year and was well-known and respected. His business is the oldest established milk business in Taunton, and dates from 1837. He leaves a widow and two sons. His body was laid to rest at St Mary's Cemetery by the side of his two children, the service being conducted by the Rev J N Boughton, of Wilton. The coffin was of unpolished oak with heavy brass breastplate and fittings. There were several beautiful wreaths.15 |
