Mary was 36, born in Ontario, father born in Ontario, mother in Scotland, and her religion was Presbyterian. Their children were Alex (16), John (14), Angus (11), Flora (9), Catharine Ann (6), Lachlan Hector (3), and Donald Fraser (1.)7 
1901 CensusJames and Mary appeared on the 1901 Census of Port Elgin, Bruce County, Ontario, at Lots 6 & 7 B 148. They leased a 7 room wooden house with 2 lots, 1 outbuilding. James was 59, born 1 Jan 1842 in Scotland, immigrated in 1852, Scotch origin, Presbyterian, a farm laborer, employed 12 months with wages of $300, literate, and his mother tongue was Gaelic. The family was Presbyterian and spoke Gaelic as well as English. Mary was head of the household, age 68, and was born in Ontario. James was 78, born in Scotland, and immigrated in 1844. Lodging with them was Mary's mother Flora McLean (88) as well as 3 roomers.11

Her father was John McLean who was born in Scotland and her mother Flora McKinnon born Scotland. The informant was her son Mr McQuarrie 87 Grenadier Rd. Burial was in Port Elgin on 27th Jan 1930 and the cause of death was apoplexy 3 yrs.14
