Note.There is a Teachers Registration Council card for Herbert Harrison Palmer of Liverpool College dated 1 February 1921. It noted that he had an M.A. from Oxford and his teaching experience was Naval Instructor in the Royal Navy 1904-16, Assistant Master of Sherborne School, Dorset 1917-18, and Liverpool College, 1920-.6

Research Note A search for Pearces in the Weston Zoyland parish register yielded only the baptisms of Elizabeth dtr of Mabel and the family of Abraham & Betty, as well as the deaths of Abraham & Betty. From census records, Abraham's birthplace was found to be Stoke St Gregory, which is 5 miles south of Weston Zoyland. The Stoke St Gregory parish register transcription is available online at http://www.thefamilyhistorypages.co.uk/stoke_St_Gregory.html There are many Pearces here, including baptisms for Abraham and his sister Mabel and Mabel's burial in 1806. 
Burial.She was buried on 4 Dec 1806 in Stoke St Gregory. "Mabel Peirce aged 31."2

On the 20th inst., at Ballycarney Cottage, after her confinement, Mary Jane, the beloved wife of William Rudd, Esq., aged 37 years. Cut off in the prime of life, the death of this estimable lady, has thrown a dark shadow over a large circle of friends. Dying, however, in the hope of a blessed resurrection, their loss is her eternal gain.9

DEATHS.
RUDD---On Friday, November 3rd, 1899, at Munfin House, after a long illness, May, eldest daughter of William Rudd, Munfin, Ballycarney, Co Wexford.13
 
1901 CensusWilliam Rudd appeared on the 1901 Census of Ballycarney, County Wexford, at Munfin. He was 67, a widower, and Farmer. With him were two unmarried children, Thomas Alexander (27) and Frances Sarah (23), and two sisters, Sibyl (65) and Elizabeth (75). All were born in Wexford and were Church of Ireland. Also with them were a visitor (William Floyd, Church of England clerk in holy orders) and a boarder (Ralph Baggs, born in New Zealand). There were 5 Roman Catholic servants - 2 housemaids, a yardman, a ploughman, and a general labourer.

The house was recorded as a 1st class house - more than 20 rooms, 14 windows in the front of the house, stone brick or concrete walls, slate iron or tile roof, and 21 out-offices or farmsteadings. The out-offices included 3 stables, a coach house, a harness room, 2 cow houses, a calf house, a dairy, 4 piggeries, 2 fowl houses, a boiling house, a barn, a potato house, a workshop, and 2 sheds.

William was the Landholder for this house and two smaller ones on the same page of the return.14 
1911 CensusHe appeared on the 1911 Census of Ballycarney, County Wexford. He was 77, a widower, Church of Ireland, farmer, and born in Co Wexford. With him were his daughter Frances Sarah (33, single) and his sister Elizabeth (86, single). Also in the household were a boarder (William John Green, 33, clergyman), 3 farming pupils, a housemaid, a cook, and two farm labourers.
The description of the house was as in 1901, except the reported number of windows on the front of the house was 5. The outbuildings included 6 stables, a coach house, a harness room, 2 cow houses, 2 calf houses, a fowl house, a boiling house, 2 barns, a workshop, 2 sheds, and a coal house.

William Rudd was also the landholder for 12 small houses (3 were empty) and the Post Office. His son Alexander was the landholder for a house in Ballycarney also.15 
Research Note The closest entry in the death index is for William Rudd age 82 in December quarter 1915 in Dublin South RD.16

1861 CensusWilliam R and Martha Jones appeared on the 1861 Census of Lindsay, Victoria County, Canada West (Ontario). William was a merchant, age 38. Martha was 35. The children were John R (9), William T (7), Martha W (6), Emma (5), and Arthur (5). Emma and Arthur were noted to be twins. All were born in Ireland. The children were not recorded as attending school. They lived in a one and a half story frame house.

1871 CensusWilliam R and Martha Jones appeared on the 1871 Census of London, Middlesex County, Ontario. William was 50 and a Merchant. Martha was 41. 1881 CensusWilliam and Martha appeared on the 1881 Census of Toronto, York County, Ontario. The family were all born in Ireland and their religion was Church of England. Mr. And Mrs. William Gordon To Mark Golden Wedding

     Mr. and Mrs. William Gordon, 425 Morley ave., will mark their 50th wedding anniversary Monday. They were married in Winnipeg April 12, 1893, by the minister of Zion church, Rev. E. Henderson.
     Sunday afternoon Mrs. E. Nuttall, 501 Hetherington ave., one of their daughters, will entertain at tea in their honor. Monday night there will be a family reunion supper at the home of another daughter, Mrs. W.J. McKeown.
     One of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon's daughters is dead, and their only son was killed in the last war. There are five grandchildren, all of whom will be at the reunion. One will come from Prince Albert and one from Dauphin.
     Mrs. Gordon was Annie Feltham, born in Wiltshire, England. Mr. Gordon was born in Ireland. They both came to Canada in 1888. "One afternoon I was invited to tea at a friend's house. Mr. Gordon was there. Six weeks later we were married," Mrs Gordon summed the romance up in a few words.
     They went to live on the prairie at what is now Dufferin and Powers st. "We had a cow and chickens. I remember one blizzard so bad that we couldn't see the stable from the house. Talking about blizzards, the worst one I ever saw was the day of our wedding," Mrs. Gordon recalled.
     There is only one person in Winnipeg who was present at their wedding, Mrs. John McLeod, Harbison ave. She was a little girl then and came with her mother.15

Research Note There is a birth for a Minnie Mary Markey in Sep Q 1871 in Wincanton RD. This child was buried at the age of one 10th September 1872 in Penselwood. This is the only Markey family having children in this district at the time, so she is probably another child of Thomas and Jane.

The eldest four girls were Factory hands in a Flax factory, Charles was an apprentice Iron Moulder, and the younger ones were Scholars.7

Thomas was 78, a widower, shopkeeper working at home, born in Zeals. Two items on the return were struck out - his granddaughter Agnes (25, single) and information about his marriage and children (which was only supposed to be entered for a couple). He wrote 54 years for marriage, 13 children born alive, 10 still living.11
