George Feltham1

#27067, (c 1847 - 1913)

Life Events

BirthGeorge Feltham was born circa 1847.1

1881 Census Have not yet found George in the 1881 census. Harriet was a Cook in Kensington. The parlourmaid was Emily Chaffey, who witnessed George and Harriet's marriage later that year.
MarriageHe married Harriet Frith on 17 Aug 1881 in St John's Isleworth, Middlesex.
Details from the register: George Feltham, full age, bachelor, Coachman, residence Bushey Hertfordshire, father William Feltham, Keeper;
Harriet Frith, full age, spinster, St John's Isleworth, father James Frith, Labourer;
They were married after banns, signed their own names, and the witnesses were Henry Frith and Emily Chaffey.1
Research Note There are two known George Felthams born in Stourton/Gasper/Brook in the 1840s. One, the son of Francis, married Elizabeth Penny and stayed in the area. The other, the son of William, gamekeeper, and Elizabeth, married Elizabeth Downing in London.
However, there is a George Feltham who married Harriet Frith in 1881 and the marriage certificate says that George's father William was a Keeper. Other details suggest that it might be the same George Feltham who was married to Elizabeth Downing. Hmmm, needs more research.
1891 CensusGeorge and Harriet Feltham appeared on the 1891 Census of Essendon, Hertsfordshire. They occupied 4 rooms. George was 43, a Coachman Groom, and born in Stourton Wiltshire. Harriet was 34, born in Isleworth Middlesex. With them was a niece Kate Mason (age 9, born in Rutland.)2
1901 CensusGeorge and Harriet appeared on the 1901 Census of Kensington, London, at 27 Queen's Gate, Place Mews. They lived in 3 rooms; a young single groom also was there. All their neighbours were coachmen and grooms. George was 53, a Coachman, born in Stourton. Harriet was 43, born in Isleworth.3
1911 CensusGeorge and Harriet appeared on the 1911 Census of Bushey, Hertfordshire, at 28 Merry Hill Mount. They had been married 29 years and had no children. George was 63, a Coachman, born in Stourton Wilts. Harriet was 54, born in Isleworth Middlesex. There were 5 rooms in their dwelling.4
DeathGeorge died in 1913 in Hertsfordshire.5

Children of John Inkster and Abigail Marion

Life Events

Overview
* * * * *

John Inkster married Abigail Marion in 1788 in Stromness, Orkney. There they had two children baptised in the years 1789 & 1791. Then John served six years in the Hudson's Bay Company in Quebec. Four more children were baptised in Stromness in 1798, 1800 (twins), and 1802. One son James likely died as an infant given that the next son was also named James (a common custom). His son William went to Canada but the lives of the rest are as yet undiscovered.

BirthJohn Inkster was born circa 1756.2

BaptismHe was baptized on 4 Apr 1756 in Stromness, Orkney. There was no information in the baptism register beyond the date and the fact that John was the son of Richard Inkesator and Kathren Marion.1
Research Note There were a handful of Inksters in Stromness parish and this baptism is the best fit. Note that the mother's surname (Marion) is the same as John's wife - the only two people with that name in the parish register.
MarriageHe married Abigail Marion on 29 Apr 1788 in Stromness.
The parish register stated that they were both in this parish.1
