The funeral took place at Whitchurch Parish Church of Mr Jonas Ford (95), who died at the residence of his daughter at Chepstow. He was a native of Whitchurch. The service was conducted by the vicar (the Rev G H Lee). The chief mourners were Mr H Ford (brother), Mr H Ford and Mr W Ford (sons), Mrs Taylor, Mrs Winmill, Mrs G Fry, Mrs Lock, and Mrs F King (daughters.)10

HAWERA, Monday
The death occurred at Hawera yesterday of Mr Harry Spratt, a well-known resident, aged 78 years. Deceased was born in Somerset, England, and came to New Zealand 53 years ago, landing at Auckland. About 30 years ago he went to Hawera, where he took up farming. The late Mr Spratt was a good judge of horses, and bred several racehorses, which performed well on the track, including the well-known Mendip and Inah. He was for many years steward of the Egmont Racing Club. In recognition of his services he was elected a life-member of the club. For several years he was chairman of the Hawera Dairy Company. His wife predeceased him four years ago. He is survived by three sons, Mr George Spratt (Waverley), Mr H L Spratt (Sydney), and Mr A E Spratt (Hawera), and one daughter, Mrs S Nicholson (Levin.)4
